I can never say no to vintage tools, especially when it means rescuing them from the trash and giving them new life. (I found these hand tool auger bits in a basement workshop that was going to be junked as the current owner needs to sell the house.)
Auger bits are specialized, long-bodied drill bits used for boring deep, clean, and precise holes in wood, earth, or ice. They feature a screw tip that pulls the bit into the material for self-feeding action and deep flutes to efficiently remove debris. For metal flower purposes, the screw tip makes it easy to mount the stem and flower onto a wooden base.
The size of the vintage auger bits I have vary. The bits shown in the photos are these sizes: L: 7.5-9 in.; W: 0.75-1 in.; D: 0.75-1 in. I have a few more bits that are similar size and you will receive a stem that is substantially similar to the stems in the photos. Alternatively, I have various other sizes that you can ask about as part of a custom request (described below).
The flowers are affixed to the auger bits with JB Weld epoxy and spray painted with Rust-oleum, which safely covers and prevents rust. Finally a clear, protective coat is added to the flower and stem. Below you can choose the stem’s color.
