Rebar Steel Stems - Metal Flower Series
I rescued the rebar used for these stems from dumpster of a car dealership that was renovating its garage. The rebar was from the concrete of the previous garage that was torn down. As a result, each rebar piece was initially in an “U” shape, and thus had two 90 degree, curved corners. I utilized these corners to create different styled stems.
Here are the different rebar stem types, which you can choose (along with the color) below:
- Straight Stem: L: 4.5 in.; W: 1 in.; D: 1 in. Rebar cut before the corner so the metal is straight. The end of the rebar is ground down to create a flat surface to which to affix the flower and so the flower can be seen.
- Curvy Stem: L: 4.5 in.; W: 1 in.; D: 1 in. Rebar cut after the corner so the end of the stem sticks out. A flower is affixed to the end of the curved stem.
You will receive a stem that is substantially similar to the stems in the photos.
The flowers are affixed to the rebar with JB Weld epoxy and spray painted with Rust-oleum, which safely covers and prevents rust. Finally a clear, protective polyurethane coat is added to the flower.
These rebar stems are part of Lawless Upcycling’s Metal Flowers series (juxtaposition of hard, man-made metal used to emulate a soft, natural flower). Check out the “Shop” for flower options and other versions of stems and/or wooden bases. THIS ORDER ONLY INCLUDES THE STEM. YOU NEED TO SEPARATELY ORDER A FLOWER AND/OR WOODEN BASE.
If you want to customize any aspect of a rebar stem, please select the options that are closest and then fill out the message that will pop up when you click “Add to Cart” to specify what customization you want. You can also use this message if you order multiple flowers and want certain flowers with specific stems. Requests that require additional work may increase the cost by a few dollars, which Lawless Upcycling will discuss with you before fulfilling the order.
Alternatively, if you want completely custom stems (as well as flowers and/or wooden bases), you can engage Lawless Upcycling for Custom Flower and Accessories services on the “Services” page, which starts with a free consultation.
